San Francisco Superior Court: MUNI driver charged with vehicular manslaughter after hitting a pedestrian while turning his bus on a narrow San Francisco street. The District Attorney refused to drop the charges and the case went to trial.
RESULT: After presenting expert testimony demonstrating that it was reasonable to infer that known defects in the bus’ construction prevented our client from being able to see the victim, the jury came back with a not guilty verdict, and our client was fully acquitted.
San Francisco Superior Court: Client charged with felony vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing great bodily injury/death, and possession of a controlled substance.
RESULT: After years of fighting the case, and pointing out numerous holes in the district attorney’s evidence, the prosecution realized they could not prove our client was intoxicated. Our client received a plea bargain to a misdemeanor reckless driving causing injury charge for probation with no custody time. All other charges were dropped.
San Francisco Superior Court: Client with history of substance abuse related convictions charged with car-jacking, DUI, and assault on multiple police officers after stealing a cab and leading the police on a high-speed chance through San Francisco’s Marina District.
RESULT: Facing over a decade in state prison, we were able to develop and present enough mitigating evidence showing our client’s dedication to recovery that the judge ultimately sentenced him to probation.
San Francisco Superior Court: Client accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from her employer.
RESULT: After many months of litigation, our client was sentenced to probation with no custody time over the district attorney’s objection.
San Francisco Superior Court: Client charged with felony possession of child pornography.
RESULT: Sentenced to a misdemeanor without sex offender registration.
San Mateo Superior Court: Young woman suffering from undiagnosed and untreated mental illness charged with attempted murder, assault causing great bodily injury, and car-jacking, after she stabbed a cab driver in the neck and drove away in his vehicle.
RESULT: After a long, drawn-out court battle, we were able to convince the judge, and eventually the prosecutor, that our client suffered from mental illness and was delusional at the time of the incident. Our client was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
U.S. Northern District Court: Client charged with embezzling millions of dollars from her employer.
RESULT: We were able to convince the sentencing judge that our client suffered from an unusual spending compulsion, and he went well below the recommended sentence and gave our client two years in a minimum security prison camp.
U.S. Northern District Court: Client charged with distribution of marijuana, facing a mandatory minimum sentence.
RESULT: Judge sentenced client to probation with electronic home monitoring.
U.S. Northern District Court: Client charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud related to home mortgages.
RESULT: Client was sentenced to probation with electronic home monitoring.
U.S. Northern District Court: Client was charged with death penalty eligible RICO, triple homicide, as well as two robberies.
RESULT: After trial with multiple co-defendants, jury only convicted the client of being part of the general RICO conspiracy and he was sentenced to 70 months.
Lake County: Client charged with two counts of homicide, attempted murder, assault, robbery and burglary.
Result: Acquitted by jury trial of both homicides, the attempted murder and robbery.
San Francisco County: Client charged as felon in possession of a firearm, alleging multiple priors
Result: Acquitted by jury trial on all counts.
Lake County: Multiple counts of Fraud and Elder Abuse charges against client
Result: Case dismissed after preliminary hearing pursuant to a motion to set aside the finding of probable cause.
Federal Indictment of Wire Fraud alleging six counts of Wire Fraud and eight counts of Money Laundering with allegations of loss over four million dollars

San Francisco County: Client charged with felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated with great bodily injury allegations and enhancements for causing the death of another while in driving under the influence.
Result: Manslaughter without gross negligence and one year custody time.
