Nathan Peterson is an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Hanlon & Rief. Having recognized numerous instances of systemic injustice in the law enforcement and criminal court systems, he became a lawyer with the goal of providing the highest level of representation to those facing criminal charges. As a native San Franciscan, he believes in the importance of maintaining a strong connection to the community in which one practices, and is proud to practice law in his home town.

Nathan graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2012. While in law school, he spent his first year summer representing death row inmates on appeal with the Keta Taylor Colby Death Penalty Project. As a law student,Nathan also interned with the San Francisco Public Defender's Office and represented indigent clients through the USF Criminal Law Clinic. He was a member of the McAuliffe Honor Society all three years of law school and received the CALI Award for Excellence three times for having the top grade in Criminal Law, Federal Income Tax Law, and Legal Ethics.
